What are some good sites to watch anime BL? Are there even ones? I'll be grateful if anybody leaves a recommendation! Thanks in advance.

Question, is steamunlocked safe? I googled it to see if it is and I keep getting results from Reddit saying it's bad and that it contains trojans and that it's dangerous, is that true? I just downloaded a zip file but I haven't extracted it yet, just opened it but didn't run anything in it.

I never had any problems and you shouldn't either if you downloaded mp3s in the 2000s from anime sites.

I've never used steamunlocked but I'd always check an .exe file before you run it even if you think you know what it is.

I don't know if anyone else will get me, but I like widowers a lot and the idea of someone being hesitant to start a new relationship both because it's a man and also because he's dealing with guilt over the idea that he's betraying his former love.

I fell for an incest ship a few months ago and I don't think I can ever go back to regular yaoi after that. It's so beautiful… The taboo, the doomed yaoiness of it all… the seething of the normies…

Age Regression not to be confused with aged down, idgi, like if it was a fetish I would understand but half of the fics I scroll by are tagged with "Non-sexual Age Regression" and it just seems bizarre and OOC.

What do you think of the modern BL scene?
I see a lot of users on this site express nostalgia for the yaoi fandom of old, and a lot of images and art you see posted are very circa 2008, so to speak.
Things have changed a lot in BL over the years for sure - for example, Chinese BL making a big splash in the west, and reversible couples becoming more common.
Do you think things have changed for the better, or do you miss the way things used to be?

This reminds me so much of how people viewed the relationship between Hank and Connor.

>Comiket was practically elevated to the status it is now by BL enthusiast women because it was fujos who kept the whole event alive with their endless bishie comics and a very tight-knit community active in providing for each other, just like today. It wasn't until men were triggered by this change and wanted comiket only for themselves and "kick the fujos out" by doing what moids do best - drooling over literal little girl porn in the form of a lolicon anthology called Cybele. Comiket now has separate days for male and female audiences.
I didn't know this but it's nice to learn that this is mirrors what happened in the west re: fangirls, Star Trek, and Kirk/Spock. Would love to read more about it.

>These people are the reason you see so many fujos having to cough up a half-hearted f/f ship just to keep them off their backs.

I feel the same, I don't understand why these people are reading stuff like Jinx or Walk in My Shoes religiously if they hate it so much.
I've read some of the comments they leave and supposedly they're waiting for the author to punish/redeem the jerk top and for the story to finally get good but… It's obvious to anyone with media literacy and a brain that's never gonna happen, and if it does, it's not gonna be in the way these readers want.
I'll never get it. If I get annoyed by an aspect of any manga/webtoon/novel, even if it's the stupidest thing ever, I just drop the damn thing and forget about it, not keep up with it until it ends while leaving dozens of comments about why the story/character/author is horrible every day/week.
If they want fluff they should look for it., there's ton of SOL cozy stuff out there!
The tags are there to warn them of any triggering topic it may contain ffs… Sigh

>they're waiting for the author to punish/redeem the jerk top and for the story to finally get good
To be fair I see Jinx attempting that redemption arc right now even if the progress is piecemeal. But no it's not going to improve the story's quality.
I quite like Jinx despite its flaws though. The writing may be ass but it's definitely engaging enough to draw a large crowd back week after week. There are worse manhwas/webtoons out there but doesn't get the attention Jinx gets because nobody could continue reading that shit, not even moralfags who want to hate on obvious ragebait or whatever.

 No.8716

>>8715
I think in the case of Jinx the art is a big part of the draw for people. The story is middling and predictable, but the detail in the characters is better than a lot of other comparable comics.

>>8714
If you want to see people really jump through hoops trying to rationalize how characters can/should be redeemed (or punished), look at Slammer Dogs and Control Time. It's mind-boggling.

There's so many yuri fans who are fine with homophobic het fans claiming fujoshi are misogynistic. They claim fujos are the homophobes but when they're fine with people like this no one cares and they don't get half the bad pr fujos get.

https://x.com/hahaha3/status/1917860293998477396 This user made a chart on how doujin culture differs between men and women and it seems pretty interesting, like how the second to last point is about how women are more hesitant to earn a profit on their works while men will just set the price to whatever they want. I'm not confident enough about my japanese to make a translation of the chart so I'm presenting it as is.

 No.8558

I remember seeing some controversy surrounding doujin culture between men and women (because of umamusu artist making profit off skeb and fantia and people going 'you deserve being punished!' 'this wouldn't happen in fujo circles!') and aren't nip fujos (yumes too) too unnecesarily autistic?
Like looking at the picture, I have no idea why uploading pics of your loot is considered a bad thing. This is common all the time for everything. Same with the autistic need to 'not gain any profit from doujins', male doujinka don't give a shit.
Is it really just the typical japanese commonality of being "humble" and "generous" forever even if it's completely unnecesary?

Right now, ship wars for gay paring are much less common than in the past, but I notice one divide that still exists, a popular ship based on which male leads are the most conventionally attractive will usually be at odds with another ship, based on actual character development, an example I grew up with was Beyblade where the two most shipped characters were Kai and Rei, despite not having much interaction because they looked the most attractive. The most famous example of this would be One Piece, where Zosan remains the most popular for the same reason
I can see both sides of the arguments, but personally I support shipping based on what people find attractive in the first place

Both would be the best, but I care about the characters being interesting more, for me personally the characters being engaging on their own is more important than interactions, especially if most of the interactions are cookie-cutter, if they don't have an interesting story or origin even, I am not really going to be into them.
My favorite dynamic is antagonist/antihero/antagonist with redemption arc with hero, and often thankfully the nemesis gets a great design, even better than the mains.

Daredevil is a good example of a general vice shift. In any another context Matt/Foggy would have been the most popular shit, but Foggy looked like he was objectively and canonically an unattractive guy and so it got pushed aside in comparison to Daredevil/Punisher (a more typical rivals ship), but around 3-4 years Matt/Foggy became popular and surpassed Daredevil/Punisher, so I think again there is a shift where dynamics and character interaction prevail over just looks

What are some characters that you find are misunderstood or changed by the fanbase? Either being bent to fulfil ships or just a critical lack of understanding from readers. Are there any fandom portrayals that got you to check out a series only for the ship/character to not be what you were expecting?

R/AO3 can be a little obnoxious at times but I do like threads like these:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AO3/comments/1itksra/any_scene_in_a_fic_or_popular_characterization_in/
Because I can get a glimpse of the state of things in fandoms I otherwise would never have glanced at. It's pretty fascinating to look through. Especially the ones like picrel where they go on about a specific incarnation of a character that ultimately lead to a sort of spiral downward.

This!

The MCU has done a lot of harm to Peter's perception. Before that there was always the issue of a lot of Spider media leaning way to far into High School BS and having the character age only to keep reverting him, but at least the core elements are relatively consistent.

Peter is young and cocky, but also forced to grow up too fast due to dead caketakers, he is also usually works alone and is smart and strong enough to solve most issues with a few rotating confidants and other NY heros. Everything the MCU brought to the table with Tony Stark just ruins the core appeal of the character and makes him less relatable. With old characters like this people can of course try new things, but imo MCU Peter might as well be a different hero and doesn't have the same appeal at all.
