>>15228There are only two shipfavs of mine that committed suicide but it's still remarkable that it has happened twice. Especially because most of the rest was self-destructive enough to cause their own death, even if it wasn't actual suicide.
It's well known that fujos tend to be drawn to pairings with hurt and broken characters or like to make them suffer in their fics but I think that's mainly because shipping by itself is all about in-depth character exploration. Not much you can unveil about two nice guys loving each other in a nice world. It's the extremes that reveal what someone is made of, why they do what they do and why they are drawn to the respective other or hateloving him.

No.15274
>>15250For me what it comes down to is that I wish more women were willing to be rude in order to protect their spaces. If you've been on twitter recently you may have heard the story about the lesbian bar that got in trouble for not enforcing a mask mandate anymore in the current year and how it snowballed and that whole situation is a peak example for me of women who are socialised to be too accepting and people-pleasing to the point that it shits up their spaces.
No.15279
>>15261I went to check them and I really genuinely wonder what's exactly the appeal? The porn content is basically the same as your typical overexaggeratedly sexual H-Doujin, nonsensical plot about slave being fucked or ultra horny guy. Whatever, sure, but who is it supposed to appeal to? Men love cocks, bara exactly focuses on COCK and BALLS and gay men love PENIS. If it's for bifags, what's the point of a pussy in a man? It feels like still being straight but not really? It's odd. And this is accounting for if these doujins are for men to begin with. For a girl, what's the point of seeing a whorish guy get fucked with a pussy? Usually I am more """accepting""" of cuntboy shit if the character is canonically genderless alien eldritch creature thing or a robot or a doll whathaveyou but if it's just a regular setting, then what's the point? From a japanese perspective, I don't think they're doing it for the sake of the trans males uwu like a westerner would, it's more like having a porn addiction from hentai doujinshi and applying them to BL but again, what's the point of the vagina? It's not like men don't actually have holes that can be fucked. For futanari, at least it's added for there to be penetration, and because men porn tastes just do whatever but if this is for women then, again, I don't see the appeal.
I have definitely seen my fair share of mentally ill ultra porn addicted jp misogynistic fujo that loves female degradation or that uke = female = humilliation but that's not very spread.

>>15274I envy men sometimes because they're a lot more likely to stand their ground in their spaces, gay bars for men don't have a TIF infestation from what I can understand. Although in the case of women, there's the issue of personal safety if they're trying to stand up to a man, so the people-pleasing comes from that as well. It just sucks all around.

>>15279CB is a fetish for women, it's really rare to see men into it. I think it's a combination of: 1) most women consuming yaoi being straight, so they're into PIV, 2) more "kinship" with a vagina getting fucked than a butthole, 3) associating femaleness with degradation/humiliation like you said, and people wanting ukes to be degraded. I miss the days when it was nonexistent and people would just genderbend the uke into a woman, at least you wouldn't run into that when looking for yaoi. Now there's multiple ships where cb is the "default"/majority of the porn.

>>15285>Is it good as a game? Most I can give rain code is it's very pretty looking and the OST is some of Masafumi Takada's best work
The game basically came from Spike Chunsoft completely misunderstanding what people liked about Danganronpa and wrting a game as such, they genuinely believed the game's main appeal was the gameplay (such as class trial minigames) and that the mysteries in Danganronpa were too hard for the average player so they had to make them piss easy obvious with the answer being directly spelt out to you half the time in Rain Code. Instead of the focus on interpersonal character relationships that Danganronpa has the only two characters that matter are Yuma and Shinigami (imagine Monokuma, but he literally never leaves you alone and has about 10,000 more quips than usual and then turns into a big titty waifu).
I've definitely played worse and it's not mind numbingly awful, but I also can't really think of any reason to actually read Rain Code unless you're someone who's never played a mystery game before and you think that you're gonna suck at them.

No.15344
>>15327It's pretty easy for me to choose art cause I don't read fanfics for the most part. I also consume more content from asian fandoms than western ones and with text bubbles in a comic there's less text to put through a translator. I have on occasion put a pixiv or poipiku oneshot fic through DeepL but it felt bad because the AI would often turn one of the guys into a woman randomly and it just got stuff wrong in general.
No.15348
>>15327I'm a petty bitch so excuse my somewhat off-tangent rant that is still nonetheless related to this.
I've always noticed that fanart always is the one that gets the most attention, traction, and is the most "influential" regardless if the contents of said fanart make sense or if the people RTing/Liking the art even know about the source material. As long as the artwork is good, people will like whatever they are seeing. It could be the biggest nonsensical crack of that respective series, but as long as it has "good" or "tolerable" art (usually in moderate qty), people will like it. Some people may even be driven to give that media a try because of the fanart they saw of X/Y ship too, even if that ship doesn't even exist or have anything of substance.
Fanart also always matters the most in general because asian fans don't really pay much attention (if not at all) to fanfic. A circle of friends in a japanese fandom who like a ship in a certain dynamic will have more influence between each other + other people that stumble upon their art vs random fanfiction writers that seem to be only exclusively liked by other english speakers.
I have never seen fanfics have that much influence over a fandom unless that fandom was for a western work or the only people influenced by a popular fic are all just english speakers.
With that in mind, I'd rather more fics than fanart purely because I wouldn't want fanart (even of MY ship) to be the basis of people's perception of that ship. What if someone I don't like, but is very popular as an artist, draws my ship in a dynamic that they absolutely are not or completely mischaracterize the two? A bad fic can be avoided and has no influence on anyone but a bad fanart that happens to be 'good' (in an objective sense of skill) can make people more easily convinced to like that ship in the wrong sense.
I hope some nonna maybe understands what my autism mean with all of this
No.15349
>>15348I get it because that's exactly how I feel.
I know fanart basically is the JP fujo way but most if not all of the fandoms I like are western. I really don't care about BG3 fanart and as the game's writing matters much more than a picture of Astarion. There's a massive divide between the threads here as western fans seem to hate doing everything the doujinshi and manga crowd love. Like only following JP accounts with art.

No.15361
>>15327Rather fanart. I collect tens of thousands of pics if a series has as many. Fanfic is great too but the likeness of it being good and not ooc is way, way smaller than art meaning that I would have a smaller pool of shit to enjoy. Art usually just depicts a single scene or feeling so it's easier to stay neutral regarding interpretation, fanfics tell a whole story and stories are hard to make.
That aside ooc fanfic interpretations of characters seem likely to develop a life of its own since there are tons of fans that read fics of series they don't know and get their lore and characterization from the fic, not the original. The good fics I know are almost always from fans who drew before they wrote or at least fans who are friends and work closely with artists (usually artists who write as well).

I mean, I'm sure TF girlies wouldn't want the robots to stop being robots and just draw anime guy that happens to have colors that match the respective transformer, right? It's like that. This reminds me of what happened in osomatsu fandom a long while ago where you had on-model osomatsu art / porn or bishiefication of the guys and most bishiefications were kind of lame.

Thankfully were past that, occasional speculative ginjinka are cute and creative, but I want the characters I love to actually look like themselves in fanworks. Human AU fanfics are even worse, you might as well be writing about OCs.
>>15392>Also, I do think you do kiiinda have to be slightly furry to like Wile E. anywayIronically I loath furries because they're just as bad in the other direction. A quarter of them were humanizing them as very specific native American tribe members, which made me recoil because I thought that'd be culturally insensitive, but they were really excited about drawing brown boys with particular nose shapes and niche patterned outfits. Nobody was talking about body types because Roadrunner is athletic and Wile is, y'know, "why your waist so thin, so other men can hold it?" memes. At the very least we all know Wile isn't eating properly.
No.15408
>>15396Idk man I was in a fandom where it was only when an alien character got anthropomorphized (and thus made it go from m/m to subtle RPF) did a bunch of people change their minds from "ewwww interspecies ship" to "hawt yaoiz!!!!" and I had to deal with an onslaught of that until I stopped giving a fuck about the movie. I think it depends on the fandom, and a lot of people who watched the AcMe movie also grew up with Looney Tunes so those specific designs hold more of a place in people's hearts than if they just created these characters two years ago. Which then yes I agree people would've made them human because their designs are kind of ugly, but also a good portion of the fanart is ironic / for the meme and keeping them as their OG designs adds to that.
