To be honest, butts in anime are just usually not well whether it's male or female. Female slightly better but all the effort is always on the boobs.

I do have to wonder if the author was aware of what he was writing or he was just like "he's thinking this out of scientific curiosity ONLY". I hc on the trip back since Rocky was embarrassed eating and shitting in front of Grace, he forces Grace to return the favor. I'm not into scat but I like the idea of them exploring each other's bodies. Even though it sadly always have to be through a xenonite barrier.

>>14158Man this made me realize what my problem with all the fisting porn is. Ignoring that I'm not really that interested in seeing Ryan Gosling's sweaty balls, I haven't seen anything that focuses on a voyeur aspect to them getting off. I'm sure there's probably fics out there if I look, but all the drawn porn I've seen has been some degree of mouthing or penetration with a xenonite dental dam/condom. It really should be about trying to perform in front of someone watching your every move, especially with how sheepish Grace would be. Several years of getting berated by a scary space monster whenever his breathing gives him away from half a ship apart and he's coming out of this with some strange kinks.
No.14160
>>14159>with all the fisting porn isThank god I'm not seeing any of that LMAO.
>voyeur aspect to them getting off.Yes same! The first tag I looked up after I finished PHM was masturbation because I found that they couldn't actually touch each other (ik I posted a fanart of them being able to but I just did that bc it has Rocky's book design, I actually think that they can't touch each other is such an underutilized trope!) I also like that there's the plausible deniability of it being for science for both of them not to mention the research that mentions (and is the reason why the HM's astronauts were originally in comas) that humans would probably go crazy stuck together in those circumstances for several years so I imagine at some point Grace starts losing his mind and Rocky is desperate to keep him from losing his shit both mentally and physically (since he has to rely on the taumoebae for food) so the boundaries between platonic/sexual begin to blur.
>xenonite dental dam/condomWHERE'S THE FROTTING, WHERE'S THE MUTUAL MASTURBATION, WHERE'S MAKING AN INVENTION JUST SO THEY CAN HAVE INTERCRURAL SEX. Penetration or oral can be so overrated sometimes.
>he's coming out of this with some strange kinksYES!!! Your brain is so big, Rocky has great hearing and before on their mission I'm sure Rocky was too polite or too ignorant to say anything while they lived together! Now with his access to all of Earth's knowledge and the exasperation that can result from rooming with someone without having a mission to distract you, he is very uncomfortable with Grace's Weird Noise Made In The Excretion Room. Not to mention Grace's sheepishness and him slowly losing his mind. Nona I love you.

Seeing all the posts above… for how bleak the future looks with gacha domination I appreciate that people are a lot more willing to just openly ship weird stuff, especially involving non-humanoid characters. I can't imagine something like that taking off 15 years ago.
No.14176
>>14174> I can't imagine something like that taking off 15 years ago.I think people were more willing to ship "weird" things before. Remember that people shipped Bill Cypher with Dipper and Bill is a literal fucking triangle. Oncecest, etc.
On a tangentially related matter, am I the only one that feels that people have been treating shipping too much as a stand-in for what they want in a relationship or have been twisting almost any ship into always being vanilla and domestic even if they aren't?
I feel like there's less people shipping weird ships or ships that simply would feel interesting dynamic-wise even if they wouldn't be the best romantic partners.
As if shipping has to equal a healthy loving domestic relationship, yknow?
Maybe it's me because in my fandom, there's a hero-villian pair that quite literally don't interact with each other all that much and don't really care about each other that much but people love to make them domestic, fluffy AUs, "powercouple", acting completely ooc from their original selves.
No.14177
>>14176Funnily enough I actually happened to stumble upon the complete opposite today where a JP artist ships the Pokemon ORAS male MC with Steven except that Steven is a full blown kidnapper yandere in these artworks while in canon he's just a regular guy with completely neutral interactions with MC. I get the impression that JP artists are more likely to shoehorn in a yandere dynamic while western artists shoehorn in domestic qualities.

>>14176Bill was usually humanized though or rendered as blipper. It's the same thing with people who were big Wheatley fans, while on-model fans existed it wasn't the default. Project Hail Mary fans are intriguing to me because I haven't seen a single humanized version of Rocky, it's cool.
You bring up onecest, but I think one of the big reasons that took off is precisely because people weren't willing to ship him with the Lorax because that'd be "weird", and there were no other characters to ship him with (though I remember a few time-travel works with Ted.)
>On a tangentially related matter, am I the only one that feels that people have been treating shipping too much as a stand-in for what they want in a relationship or have been twisting almost any ship into always being vanilla and domestic even if they aren't?That or 2edgy garbage where a characteris inexplicably a rapist for no reason. There are some people who find a dynamic they like and then just write every couple the same exact way regardless of the characters. While I'm of the firm belief that every ship has the potential to be domestic or dark depending on what you choose to focus on, it's pretty obvious when an author just decides to ignore problematic or boring elements of a character to do what they want.

But I am glad people are pushing back against it and calling it the coward's yaoi. I will say one good thing about the PHM fandom since I complain a bunch about them kek is that a lot of the "platonic" art is only platonic in name and is indistinguishable from romantic Grace/Rocky. It's like, besides yumes and OC ships, wtf else are people going to ship? I'm always surprised at how much Elricest has died down but looking through the general FMA tags and I will see lovingly rendered art of their bond and little to none of Winry despite this artist's recorded history of being mainly a shipper in their other fandoms kek. I think it doesn't help fandoms are so extreme. If you ship any controversial ship, effectively your only audience from then on will only be other "pro-shippers" who most of the time are just as guilty as being OOC as "anti-shippers" except with way more noncon and who are very annoying at competing with each other for being the biggest edgelord.

The dedicated slash shippers will usually latch onto the nearest male character who is in the appropriate age range and is non-related, whether or not he has interacted with the guy they want to ship him with. These ships end up becoming my NOTP fast even if there is something in the dynamic that I think could be interesting, because that's never what I'm going to see.

>>14188Yeah… I've read a few Main Guy/Closest Breathing Male that I enjoyed, but by and large it's horrible. Thor and Loki have the most tension, but that's icky—ship him with Iron Man. DMC is the funniest version of this, because people shipped Dante with Nero to avoid incest with Vergil, because when 4 came out, they were only distantly related. Then 5 released (well, that Japanese novel released first, but there was no translation for ages), and suddenly bam! Retroactive incest!

It's a shame she deleted her socmed and who knows when Nakamura will update again and what will become of the storyline? I thought it was going to be about how showrunners performatively put in lesbian side characters they don't care about to shallowly appeal to yurifags because of the Charlie/Vaggie in the thumbnail, but no it's fandom bitching. If you aren't even going to contribute to the ships you care about then you've lost the right to complain.

>>14313>Mob Psycho 100I don't feel like watching the video, what were they saying about it? There's not many major female characters besides the MC's crush, the club leader obsessed with aliens, the journalist, etc. and they mainly play a role in the background and not much of the actual action. Why would anyone use that as an example of a fandom ignoring the relationships between female characters when we barely even see those characters interact kek. It's gotten to a point where genderbending the yaoi/het ships to become yuri is more common in that fandom than any actual yuri ship.

Again if these people actually cared they'd write their own stories, but you're correct fingerwagging about MP100 in particular is stupid. M/M fans keep winning even in fandoms that aren't male character dominated because we actually write our stupid infeasible ships, if you want to get your foot in the door then do the same.
No.14323
>>14321That *is* dumb, like you said fujos are more likely to create mountains out of molehills simply because that is what they're used to doing and how shipping fandom persists even after a work is completed. Their imagination & collaboration in a fandom despite the basis in the actual work is part of the enjoyment (and sometimes to my chagrin but I still respect them for it). But idk what about MB100 would attract those REALLY into female characters, like yes fujos have a predisposed attitude but it's not like there's even many bones thrown to hetfags or waifufags so why would they watch it? Only fujos, dudebros, or normal fans would be watching it and only the first group makes a lot of fan content.
But also its doubly dumb because MB100 is perfect bait for the broad spectrum of fujos (age-gap, incest, same-age, etc.) AND
it doesn't even end with the MC getting with his crush and he's still single so there's even room to expand on those relationships afterwards. This is like wondering why shipping the LIs together in a romance media is rare…

I'm surprised there was such an uproar over it though. From my memory when YoI came out, fandom was still at the early beginnings of anti/proship/"problematic" discourse so I thought that it would've been given Boku no Pico/Henshin treatment, not people going out of their way to directly attack the author.

More importantly what the fuck even, there IS a yuri ship in Claw who'd die for each other in canon, you just don't find them attractive enough to ship, dumbass. That's why the only big yuri ship going for it is Reigen and Mob in drag, followed by jokes about the schoolgirls cucking Mob. Fujos will bend over backwards to ship ugly old men for their moe points, yumes will prop up a man with a face like a rotting zucchini, but yuributa tend to favor the pretty princesses and the handsome princes, so their choice of Plain Jane side characters is greatly diminished. There's a Korean series I'm reading and the fandom had a shock when the manwha adaptation reached one of the yuri ships, because newcomers all started screeching about how gross and ugly a woman was for being over thirty and having short hair. The fujo fandom was happy to pair the spares and make every character gay, but the wider audience couldn't handle someone who wasn't a model.

Apparently women in my city just hate period cups cause I can't find a drugstore in my area that sells them. Every other menstrual product is here. I sleep just fine when I wear one, and when I use a pad I bleed too much I just have to wake up and change my pad and sometimes my clothes as well. I assume this is also how you're supposed to use cups, I don't see myself spending nearly 10 hours in my work place and a bit more than that outside if you count commuting and errands without emptying a cup. I've never tried using one but I've been told to just empty it, wash it and put it back inside but who the hell does that in a public restroom shared with coworkers and other companies? So for me it's pads for when I'm outside and period panties when I'm back home.

To give further context - when the character first appears she's confident, cruel, and doesn't think much of killing 'fodder' employees to survive, but she's not villainously stupid and stops when told it's detrimental. Commenters first assumed she had to be a man, then complained about her looks when told she wasn't. Her behavior played a part in the reactions for sure, some people blamed that for why they called her ugly, but the same arc introduces a researcher who gets off on sending people to die and he's a fandom darling since before we knew he was hot. The setting is a company that sends people into what's often death games to retrieve magic juice, if anything her practicality and mental fortitude is admirable and deserving of the meme label 'bad bitch', but she dared to have short hair and a round face. Looking at her again she looks kinda like a genderbent Kaiji character and you know fujos would ship that, morality be damned.
>>14364Sleeping makes sense. I use washable cotton pads at night and it has totally saved me from sore skin compared to before. I don't know about wearing period panties in the day though because I don't trust the blood not to leap out the sides and get on my legs, and like the other nona says it'd be like sitting on a wet patch for hours if you didn't change. I use winged pads because there's a little extra protection holding any sudden surges back. I'm amazed every time there's blood going round onto the sides of the wings but none got on my pants.
Yeah I could never handle a cup in a public restroom either, I'd accidentally spill on my hands and then have to open the stall door to get to the sink. And I guarantee it'll be how I find out I bleed more than a cup's worth in several hours.

>>14481Sorry I should have just said that I was thinking about it from the angle of a bunch of dudes also impose this standard on other dudes. While women always make up the majority of visual artists in fandoms, the furry fandom is predominantly male and the site admins who get mad over sexualized animals will be men. Furries are prime hypocrisy like you say, they'll treat things like it's black and white, only to have all the slippery slope fetish tendencies and start making excuses. It's the same as the antis who say it's ok when they like something because of this and that which means it doesn't count as incest/underage/beastiality/noncon, but crucify others. It's a bit weird because the game's popularity has nosedived fandom-wise so even the most popular ship is relatively "small". But since the game is basically dead, it's not like people will come to like them or even understand it either.
Another reason comes from the fact that the characters don't inherently interact on-screen much. It's a backstory-based ship in a sense? Where it's said that Character A met Character B in their childhood, spent some time together, shit happens and
eventually Character A killed Character B but this is narrated through contextual clues rather than actually shown outright.
They have 2 age gaps, one with adult and child (when they met) and one with adult and REALLY old old man (as they grew up). So it literally can't fucking win.
No.14528
>>14515Most of my rarepairs are just that the fandom consists of three people but there's one artist in Japan posts 80 image long Pixiv logs. I had one where I was the only English speaking fan of the series and the JP fandom was about ten people at its most active but they all saw the ship as practically canon, so it didn't feel lonely or truly rare. The series was fujobait on all fronts which made it easy for everyone to suggest all these characters had an interest in this main guy, but he only showed deep affection to three of them, and only one had a whole "I thought I lost you" arc that cemented them.
For my side character rarepairs, it's usually a case of nobody else cared for the design/theme of the characters and gravitated to ones with more screentime. I like the equivalent of domestic plain janes sometimes, especially in supernatural series where their ""plain"" is actually unexplored weirdos joined at the hip. Bonus points if one is overlooked crazy and the other is constantly interpreting for him. The problem with this is people don't refer to the manga to get a good sense of the characters, they assume what they know without checking is good enough and don't analyze any further. I fucking love analyzing characters and picking out real specific behavior.
So my friend wrote me a fic about one of my rarepair and it flanderized the shit out of one of them and to this day I've not been able to tell her that she misunderstood him on a fundamental level and just kept repeating the only thing she knew. She was really happy presenting it to me for my birthday and I can't. She's an amazing writer and a BNF in some fandoms but this one fic is so wrong to me. TT__________________TT That people can see only this surface level idea of who he is proves why it's a rarepair, because his bf is the plain one and if they get him wrong how are they gonna understand his bf as anything other than a nice guy.

I am always afraid of annoying others if I reply to every post for my art because followers see random replies because twitter considers that shit separate posts that have to appear on other people's timelines. But not saying anything will also make me come off asshole. There is no winning. How do others do that?
I honestly feel like my whole introvert mentality aligns better with the Japanese mindset. JP fans usually don't reply to art they love, they just make a separate post starting with "RT" to avoid this specific conflict. It's easier to handle, since I am not expected to reply to these comments, you just like them. A "like" is considered a "thank you".
Also, no matter how good an artwork is I am always hesitant to post it. It's so much easier on anon boards where there is no nick attached to me and where everybody is posting art anyway.
No.14606
>>14605I would swap my experience with you if I could. I got too used to the comment tagging culture of tumblr and getting no comments on my art when I post on twitter or pixiv just makes me feel empty and lessens my motivation to post more art. I also despise the RT comments system because if someone is talking about my work I would rather they just say it to me, I don't have time to go through all the likes and retweets on my post just in case somebody has said something. It's absolutely mad. Even if it's a mutual, I check my TL so rarely. I can't be fucked with it anymore.
The only reason I don't post on tumblr is both because there's more proximity to antis and every artist in the western fandom seems to be into something that massively squicks me.

>>14669Wtf this was a couple of days ago. I thought he’d just faded into obscurity along with YGOTAS. I agree with you; there’s something about nerd culture in particular that’s super coddling of troons. It’s probably the combination of also to woke as fuck while also being incredibly misogynistic/male-centered at the same time.
Also, was anyone else here a fan of YGOTAS in its heyday but found it unfunny and dated as time went on? Besides YGOTAS and Team Four Star I was never a fan of the Abridged Series format. They feel more like a vehicle for the creator’s VA talent and humor rather than a fan work meant to appeal to fans of the original IP. YGOTAS was a combo of 2000s humor + pre-social media internet fandom + early anime industry weirdness that was so poignant for that particular moment in time, but as time marched on none of those were relevant anymore. For example so much of YGOTAS’ humor was contingent on poking fun of 4Kids’ weird family-friendly dub edits and censorship, but that phenomenon is long dead.
Ironically, a lot of the old episodes would not have sat well with the woke crowd too. Doesn’t Bakura get called a “shemale” multiple times? Fast forward to today they’re making “JKR evil” jokes and then finally the creator himself troons out.

Unlike Purpleeyes and Weeklytubeshow2 who were not afraid of offending people and were actually socially aware enough to be funny.

But, frankly, I'm not surprised. LK was outed as bisexual back in the day, and he wrote Bakura/Marik fanfic. I was a huge fan of YGOTAS as a kid—it was probably the first intro I had to comedy beyond like, cartoon network. It probably didn’t help that most of the fun came from 1) poking fun at 4Kids and 2) poking fun at the inherent absurdity of YGO, but 4Kids was on their way out by the turn of the 2010s, and the Battle City arc didn’t have the weird Duelist Kingdom rules that made early YGO so silly.
I’ve heard of the five geek social fallacies before. They’re a classic and still very much applicable to this day. GSF1 Ostracizers are Evil is single-handedly responsible for at least 50% of what ends up deteriorating nerd groups; that people are unwilling to gatekeep in the name of inclusivity.

I got curious and I watched pic related, the movie that is every fandom's punching bag this week. It's really not the worst thing ever, far from it, but I can see why people call it "cringe". It's made for the Millennial Tumblr audience, it has the same kind of quirky humour, which lands flat for zoomies (like me) nowadays. I found it kinda boring imo, it wasn't offensively bad but it wasn't that entertaining. I liked the amount of details the backgrounds have and how experimental stuff got in the therapy sequence but that's it. The worst thing for me was probably the music, but the biggest issues were scenes that didn't add anything to the plot or just characters not having good chemistry with each other. I know it's supposed to be satire, but sometimes it tries to paint itself as serious, which just makes the story confusing to me.
Tho I will say, I'm definitely easily entertained because the Straight White Maliens, the main bad guys, end up realising they don't need women and become a gay trio couple. That activated something in my brain lmao, even if I find the art style of the movie to not be my cup of tea, incel losers becoming gay is something I eat up. I ended up liking the antagonists more, the Problematic Ship was my favourite character, I just liked how much of an asshole he was.
Overall maybe like a 3 or 4 out of 10 for me, it's definitely overhated, but eh people will forget about it next week anyway. And no, the movie isn't TERF or even cryptoterf, the goth girl is a they/them and one of the queens is apparently a TIM. Trannies have gone insane.

I looked at the Pixiv tag for one of the male dominated fandoms I'm in without thinking, it was 90% weird rapey ai-generated porn of the female characters, absolute wasteland. The difference between the content from fandoms that are popular with only women and general popularity fandoms is insane, I remember the tag for one yaoi-baity show i liked was filled with human drawn art except for one autist who spammed ai generated OOC hentai of the sole irrelevant female character. I guess I'll stick to Twitter from now on, even though I hate the lack of tagging system.

No.14914
>>14911I did the same some time ago and yeah. Fucking insane.
Sometimes you see both within the same fandom. The men get thousands of great fanarts a week on twitter, the female characters (especially if they're waifubait for the audience) get crappy AI garbage on pixiv that is as ugly as it is mindless (mostly it's just faceless guy rape or a cowtitted whore that is supposed to be the female character but looks nothing like her). Absolute wastelands.
I can fucking tell that Jaadugar is mainly popular with women (despite that the show itself is a non-romantic, non-yume history drama about intrigues and wars, something both genders can enjoy) for the millions of good-looking fanarts it gets.
False Memory is probably only watched by women too for that matter. Elusive Samurai by both, but only the women draw which leads to the funny result that tertiary male characters like Ichikawa and Kiyohara have more art than the girls who are the most important characters after MC.
>>14912Same. Last season had Nippon Sangoku flood twitter with great fujo fanart so I wasn't surprised that it got a billion merch items and a s2 announcement later.
But even when a show with only male fans casually happens to be popular it's funny when there is like 0 art. Like, there are millions of fans. You know they're there. There are everywhere. But there is no fucking fandom. There is no art. I guess most otaku only watch things for a quick fap so they give it a "view", but move on to the next a second later or do something else.

I know there are normal cuntboy enjoyers but I've seen so many of them be so weird about women, even moreso than strict fujos who openly hate female love interests.

When I make my original work, I really want to focus on characters + lore / world-building + and plot. Brainworms come when there's bait and not an established romantic relationship. I want full-on fujobait and complicated relationships. But I'm also shit at writing. Life is hard for a hobbyist.

>>15164I want to make something like this so bad but I'm so bad at coming up with plot. What do the characters even do? What world are they in? No clue what to make.
No.15167
>>15165What has helped me in the past for making plots is asking a question: What if X did Y? or What happens if X and Y do Z? Once you start to answer that, you begin to slowly build the world and characters.
Here's a more concrete example.
What if a vampire hunter found a werewolf mauling his vampire prey?
What happens when two opposing groups have to work together because aliens invaded?
It's silly examples I'm coming up on the fly. Something I did many years ago when I had a huge Final Fantasy phase was ask this question: What if Mages and Summoners went to war?
It eventually led to another question: And what if the summoners were the losers in that war?
Then another: What does that society look like 500 years into the future?
And so on and so forth. I proceeded to create a story out of that premise with characters, relationships, plots, and scenarios

https://x.com/nekoze_0420/status/1970889548466163799, in which the manga is full of sex, but the anime isn't, I think it's unlikely to be Nakamura.
Can't think of any BL manga that is full of sex, but the anime counterpart isn't even erotic.

Though at that point, BD players were an expensive status symbol. 2005-2006 was when Blu-rays finally started to take off at such a scale that many standard Japanese homes had a BD player.
