This very much implies that the game is a prequel that takes place before the kingdom of Faerghus was founded in 751. I’m pleasantly surprised at the lack of fandom wank, but it’s probably a consequence of the lack of character development. Tbh outside the main lords and their retinue, it’s hard to get attached to the characters especially since there are so many characters and so many factions. One of the main complaints I see is lack of support convos, which is valid since there’s so much lost potential. IMO what made 3H so “sticky” - and the discourse so intense - was that the game elaborated on the bonds between the members of each house, which made it easy to get attached to the cohort and their lord. People probably sided with whatever path they played first or left the biggest impression on them.

For example, Gurzan is a required recruit on Cai’s path but why does he have zero supports with Cai’s team? Same for Catania in Zelda’s path - she’s a required recruit and
