I just remembered I had this bookmarked so here's some historical context I found interesting. According to this twitter user, 'otoko no ko" as a term can be traced back to a shoujo magazine. It seems to be a comment about a submitted manga and I do wish the person clarified which manga the comment was about cause Happiness!, Hibari-kun and Barcode fighter aren't shoujo.

The fan art generally isn't on model so you may find some good stuff in Kaiji/Akagi/Tonegawa fandom. Old Akagi/Kaiji seems biggest. There's also Young Akagi/Washizu (19/75).
