Did anyone else find this one super interesting? I absolutely loved it. My favorite genre of documentary is the kind that focuses on some super niche topic like this. Any recommendations for documentaries that also focus on random subjects?

 No.9840

>>9836
Yes Grizzly Man is great! I'd also recommend the rest of Werner Herzog's documentaries all of them are just random topics he personally finds interesting.

Some really random ones I like…

Atomic Cafe (1982) which is a collection of historic footage and propaganda pieces all about atom bombs. It's pretty funny in a dark sense and uses a lot of juxtaposition.

The People vs. George Lucas (2010) a movie about fringe Star Wars fans and their love-hate relationship with the creator. What's interesting is it was made before the sequel trilogy so the "fringe" and "crazy" fans that are depicted in the film are now the kind of people you would find on youtube.

Screaming in High Heels: The Rise & Fall of the Scream Queen Era (2011) movie about women in B movies. If you like Troma and other low brow trash (like me) you'll get more out of it, but even without that there's also discussion of the B movie business as a whole that's interesting.

Tapped (2009) A movie about bottled water, the business, the environmental impact, and companies attempts to market something you can get for free.

Room 237 (2012) Insane documentary which markets itself as being about interpretations of the film The Shining, but is actually a movie about conspiracy theories and how the human brain has the tendency to see patterns where there are none. If you haven't seen the Kubrick film this one will make no sense though.

You went above and beyond! Thank you! It's so hard to find good documentaries, and I'll definitely check out all of the ones you listed. I hate being let down by an interesting premise. There was one documentary I tried to watch a long time ago about how a woman lied about surviving 9/11, and worked her way up to becoming president of the World Trade Center Survivors' Network before getting caught. Somehow, they managed to turn this very interesting subject into something way more boring. It wasn't bad, but it had the potential to be so much better.
>I'd also recommend the rest of Werner Herzog's documentaries
I love all of Werner Herzog's documentaries that I've watched. I love his perspective, and he has such a unique style. That one clip of him talking about the chicken cracks me up.
>Screaming in High Heels: The Rise & Fall of the Scream Queen Era (2011)
This one sounds really cool, as I've also watched a lot of B-movies and garbage of that nature. I actually know nothing about the industry, so I'm excited to learn.
>Tapped (2009)
I just watched this one because of your recommendation, and it's so fascinating! It's personally interesting to me for reasons I can't really detail, but this is a great recommendation. I wish more people were aware of this.
>Room 237 (2012) Insane documentary which markets itself as being about interpretations of the film The Shining, but is actually a movie about conspiracy theories and how the human brain has the tendency to see patterns where there are none. If you haven't seen the Kubrick film this one will make no sense though.
This sounds like my favorite type of thing. I've never watched The Shining despite loving horror movies because I hate Stephen King. Maybe I'll have to finally watch The Shining just so I can enjoy this documentary! Kubrick did direct one of my all-time favorite movies, and I like a lot of his work, so it won't be too much of a chore.

I wanted a thread for character analysis, either design or contextual traits / motivations.
>Post examples of good character designs / designs you really like
>Sperg about how the design conveys information about the character well or stands out
>What are your favorite character tropes?
>What are your favorite moe / charm points for cute boys?
>Sperg about your favs like a fic writer would. What make them interesting? What are some character traits other fans don't pick up on? Do a psychological analysis.
>How does your character work with their pairing?
>Share examples of well-done gijinka designs
>etc
also
>Share ideas for developing cute OC boys!!
Starting off with an iconic and endearing design which conveys a lot of information

I really love princely characters with light, usually platinum blonde, hair like Eichi or Tadase. It's such a particular trope but they always look so clean and pure and otherworldly especially with the white horse imagery.

These people irk me too, I was going to post in the vent thread about it. I don't understand why they don't just go full yume or at least do mob x character art if the other half of the ship is that negligible to them. It has to be a clout thing.

 No.8874

Have you ever been embarrassed to like a ship/fandom? When Undertale was really big I was too ashamed to admit to liking it even though it was mega popular and there was literally no reason to pretend to hate it. Now it's 4AM and I'm still in the mood for fontcest.

it's not gay but and it's not even popular aside from one pretty talented artist only drawing fanart for it years ago, but the girl involved in is massively popular despite being side girl so main girl shippers are seething lol.
Strangely enough in a fujo magazine i got her poster and cherry magic poster too so I guess double win ahah

Wouldn't surprise me if episode 1 filtered people with that blushing Tokiyuki scene. I remember an instance where I recommended the anime and someone replied "Is this that show that pedos like?"

I mean in my humble opinion everything improves with BL but there are some cases where it would have made more sense from a narrative point of view if it did end with two guys falling in love.
I'm gonna go with something obvious and say Dead Poets Society.
>Takes place at a boarding school which is a classic setting for BL
>They reference Walt Whitman several times. Whitman was gay
>The chemistry between Neil and Todd is insanely good
>The whole theme of the movie is to break free from the expectations forced upon you which can be read as a metaphor for being gay
>The ending can even be a nod to the bury your gays trope if you're reaching hard enough
First time I watch this movie I genuinely thought it was originally written as a romance between Neil and Todd but it was changed due to studio meddling/censoriship. I was really surprised when I found out that was not the case lol
Have anyone else had a similar experience with something else?

Ajin is such a sausagefest that it should have been a BL/homobait title from the start. There are NO women of any relevance aside from Izumi - it's all revolving around homosocial bonds of men who prefer to socialise with other men, fight other men, be entertained by other men, conspire with other men, chase other men, save and be saved by other men and talk DEEP STUFF with other men.
I can't conceive a possibility of some male readers being upset at fujoshi calling the manga a feast of undiluted homosexuality when it has a higher male/female ratio than Legend of Galactic Heroes, features an MC being coveted by two dudes of his own age and an old man, and is a uniform fetishism galore. This shit ain't straight, dude.

Personally for me it's Kou x Kei, because of the contrast between them (smart - dumb, emotional - stoic) and because their interactions when they either kill each other or save each other or both at the same time are hot.

We don't have to talk about the political point (idk unless you want to). What I do want to say is, I saw this on Twitter five seconds ago, and I immediately thought "damn these two caricatures should fuck".

Do you guys ever see historical figures or fictional men (or like pic related), and have a major lip bite moment?

I've kept it to myself long enough but I really want a ship of one of those confederate flag hat wearing guys x a African American where the black one is the uke. Where when they first meet the confederate guy doesn't have his hat on and he meets with the black guy and they become buddies and the confederate guy is worried that ine day the black guy will find out that he's racist. I'm not American if anyone's wondering.

In this thread, we pretend to be on a podcast dedicated to being an Alpha female. Think of all the alpha male podcasts but turn it into the woman version of that.
Poke fun at men, humble them and most importantly, keep it as satire as things here should not be taken seriously.

Not sure if this is the right board, but I'm willing to tl small pages or single images, if it's not walls of text or very messy handwritten stuff (lol). I could use the practice.
I'm not interested in typesetting or putting the text into the images though, so just raw text will have to suffice. Porn is a-ok, too.
